Lake Tahoe – One of the Beauties in our Amazing Country
A very
popular tourist attraction Lake Tahoe is known for winter sports, summer
sports, hiking and biking, and oh yea gambling.
But we were there to soak up the beauty and peacefulness of the
lake. On a bright sunny day we drove
from our campsite to the lake and enjoyed a lovely boat ride across the lake.
Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. It
straddles the state line between California and Nevada, west of Carson City.
Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, and trails
only the five Great Lakes as the largest by volume in the United States. It is the
second deepest lake in the United States after Crater Lake in Oregon.
The lake was formed about 2 million
years ago as part of the Lake Tahoe Basin, with the modern extent being shaped
during the ice age. It is known for the clarity of its water and the panorama
of surrounding mountains on all sides.
