Milwaukee in the summer can't be beat :)

We spent a little time in Milwaukee Wisconsin this summer....it is gorgeous in the summer time.  We will spend more time here later but for now I want to share the uniqueness of the Milwaukee Art Museum and then introduce you to their wonderful zoo.

When it comes to the art museum it isn't the collections inside I will share with you, although they have excellent exhibitions, no - it is the design of the building that houses those exhibitions that is unique, particularly the Quadracci  Pavilion.

The graceful Quadracci Pavilion is a sculptural, postmodern addition designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Highlights of the building are the magnificent cathedral-like space of Windhover Hall, with a vaulted a 90-foot-high glass ceiling; the Burke Brise Soleil, a movable sunscreen with a 217-foot wingspan that unfolds and folds twice daily; and the Reiman Bridge, a pedestrian suspension bridge that connects the Museum to the city.

This is the walkway to the front door known as the Reiman Bridge.

Even the entrance to the garage below is a work of art!

The back looks like a glass cruise liner! Inside this is Windhover Hall.

Below is the Burke Brise Soleil, the moveable sunscreen with a 217-foot wingspan that unfolds and folds twice daily.

The only piece of art I photographed was this beautiful glass sculpture "Dale Chihuly Glass".

Next stop: The Milwaukee Zoo!

The Milwaukee County Zoo is a zoo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, operated by the Milwaukee County Parks Commission. The zoo houses 1,800 animals and covers an area of 200 acres including 81 habitats.  It is noted for the second birth of polar bears and siamangs (a monkey kind of critter) in captivity and for their locally famous gorilla Samson, who lived from 1950 to 1981 and whose bones are now on display at the Milwaukee Public Museum. The zoo is also home to one of the largest group of bonobos in one location outside their native Democratic Republic of the Congo, and has two cheetahs from the National Zoo in Washington, DC.(From Wikipedia)

Let' start with the beautiful Polar Bears.
