Watkins Glen State Park

Watkins Glen - another amazing park our country holds, was created by erosion.  Over the ages it has become home to so many water falls I lost count.  We hiked along the three mile trail following the gorge from the bottom to the top ... and yes, there were tons of stairs thus going back down the gorge to our truck was a lot easier!!  Hope you enjoy what you see ☺

The Park does not allow pets of any kind, and since we follow the rules (surprise .. surprise) the Golden Girls could not come with us for this one.  The owner of this beauty apparently thinks he's above following the rules as his dog stands in the flow at the bottom of the falls!  Not the dogs fault and he is a pretty creature ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿพ

The entrance to the gorge and the falls as we hiked our way to the top. This waterfall is what the dog above is looking at.

In the tunnel and out of the tunnel !!

Ahhh...made it back to the parking lot!!!
Along with all of the beautiful 'falls' there was plenty of fauna - both on the sunny side of the gorge and the shady side ...

We also saw a little wildlife ... no really ... it was only a little!!

Then there was the train trestle ...
that at one time had three piers holding it up.  Along came the flood and washed the pier out ... Reminds me of the itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout ... down came the rain and washed the spider out ... anyway, the two existing piers were reinforced, and some of the pieces from the pier that was washed down the gorge were pulled out but you can still see some of the wreckage in the water today.

Hope you all enjoyed Watkins Glen.
More to come soon,.
