Discovering Machu Picchu
Going to Peru to see, photograph and explore Machu Picchu was one
of our “Bucket List” targets. It was
well worth the trip! It is located high
in the Andes Mountains, 7,972 feet above sea level. Archeologists say it was built in the 15th
century and later mysteriously abandoned, although some historians believe it
was abandoned at the time of the Spanish Conquest. It was built with dry-stone walls that fused huge
blocks of stone without the use of mortar, a technique called ‘ashlar’. Some believe it was either a royal estate or
a sacred religious site for Inca leaders.
First for us is the bus ride past the strikers. Then we arrive at the train station.

The train ride has some absolutely awesome views.
The train ends at the town of Plano Del Distrito de Machu Picchu. Which also had some nice views.

Once off the train we are loaded on to yet another bus! This bus takes us on a zig-zag ride up the mountain to ... finally ... Machu Picchu!!
Please enjoy this photographic ‘walk’, 'hike', and 'climb' through Machu Picchu ! (These photos are in no particular order)

…. Soon ☺
