Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is a ‘slot canyon’, a narrow canyon formed by the wear of water rushing through the rock.  Generally slot canyons are deeper than they are across.  Some measure less than 3 feet across at the top but drop more than 100 feet to the floor of the canyon.  The canyons are located on Navajo land and tours are available for the Upper Canyon and the Lower Canyon.  It is difficult to get reservations as this is a very popular tourist attraction for anyone visiting the Page Arizona area.  That being said, we had trouble too!  We managed to get a reservation for the Upper Canyon for a 2PM tour.  Not the best time of day for a tour as the best times are in the morning or the early evening, those tours are booked months in advance!

So the day we went was a beautiful day which gave some light to the canyon.  It was brighter at the beginning of the canyon and you'll notice the difference in the photos as we went deeper in to the canyon.  It was also very crowded as all tours are filled to capacity.  So, taking photos was a challenge.  I found when I got back to my computer and downloaded the photos I had some very interesting shapes, swirls and colors.  They certainly are not the typical photos you may have seen of the slot canyons!!  Hope you enjoy them though.

More coming soon  😊
