Milan, Italy
Our first stop was Milan where the highlight of the visit was the “Last
Supper”.
Milan, in Italian it is
pronounced Milano, is a city with a population of 3,219,000.
Milano has strengths in finance, arts, commerce, industry, engineering,
universities, manufacturing and business. In terms of tourism and arts, some of its few
record-breaking landmarks are in the city center, home to the world's first 7
star hotel the Town House Galleria, the largest Gothic Piazza Duomo with Milan
Cathedral, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and the most important opera
house in the world ""La Scala." Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of The Last Supper;
(a UNESCO World Heritage Site) attracts over 11 million visitors and grows by
12.5% each year.
We only had a day to explore this amazing city and did not get to see all
of it by any means, but here is what we did see.
This is the church where da Vinci's "Last Supper" is located. It is painted on the wall of what used to be the Monastery's Refectory.
On the opposite wall is da Vinci's
"Crucifixion".
These photos show the grand shopping mall, the 'Galleria'. All of the most famous designers are represented in this lovely building.
More coming soon!
