The Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry

You can’t visit Nashville and not go to the Grand Ole Opry!  We were able to visit one afternoon and enjoy a back stage tour which ended on the main stage so you can see what the performers look at!  Of course the performers have bright lights shining in their eyes so they probably don’t see most of the audience.  We also went to a show the same evening which was quite entertaining.  We did not recognize any of the names of the performers which included Raiders in the Sky, Jamie O’Neal, Bill Anderson, Carly Pearce, The po’ Ramblin Boys (who were performing for the first time on the Grand Ole Opry Stage which, if you are a country fan you may know, is a very prestige’s moment for Country Stars), and Charles Esten.  We really had a good time and there was not an empty seat in the house!!
The Opry began as a simple radio show in 1925 and is now the longest running live radio show in the US and it is also heard around the world.  Tune in on 650 AM WSM, or on opry.com, or SiriusXM Satellite Radio on Friday and Saturday nights.
Between the back stage tour and the evening live performance we dropped in to Madame Tussauds Nashville where we saw several Country Star Celebrities done in wax which we found both awesome and creepy at the same time!!
