The
National Corvette Museum
This
Museum is located in Bowling Green Kentucky.
The Museum features over 80
Corvettes in periodic settings, including mint classics, one-of-a-kind
prototypes and modern-day wonders of engineering and design. There is even one you can drive placed in
front of a screen so you can pretend to be a race car driver as well as a
corvette you can sit in for photos. If
you step outside you can do laps around a track in a Vet, or drive a Corvette
Stingray around the three mile road course at the NCM Motorsport Park. They also have a junior go-cart track for
those who want some wheel to wheel racing.
The other thing this museum is famous for is the Skydome Hall of Fame; the
site of the Corvette swallowing sinkhole!
The Skydome is built over the area of the sinkhole that devoured 8
Corvettes! There is an outline of the
hole on its floor, as well as a glass cover over the cave that the sinkhole
created which lies beneath. Seven of the
Corvettes were lifted out of the sinkhole only leaving one in the depth below
as it was buried under rock and unrecoverable.
