Black
Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
“…no other north American canyon combines
the depth, narrowness, sheerness and somber countenance of the Black Canyon.”
This quote by Geologist Wallace R. Hansen is a perfect
description of this canyon which plummets 2000 feet to the bottom. The Gunnison River is carving this canyon
dropping an average of 95 feet per mile through the National Park. Rock walls, only 40 feet apart, plunge
directly into the river at “The Narrows”.
From strange florals to wildlife to the sheer greatness of this canyon I
hope you enjoy the photos.
